DIY: Copper colored mason jars and weck jars

Last year I wrote for my Blog Cakesandpumps already a post about this nice DIY to paint spray Mason Jars or Weck pots and to use them as pots for pencils and other office stuff. Or for cooking stuff. in the mean time my atelier is a little bit more finished and I could definitely use some new pots for my pencils and scissors. I like it a lot, since my desk is always full with stuff like pencils and markers that I should really put into a jar or something. So to keep it a little bit more clean I could really use this to clean my desk a little bit. Haha does that sound familiar to you too, then you should try this DIY. It’s an easy thing to do, the waiting for the paint to dry takes much more time than the DIY itself.

Teapot Theo from Stelton

A couple of weeks ago I bought this beautiful teapot Theo from Stelton. A real beauty and it was on my wishlist for some time now;-)
The teapot is black, altough it looks a little bit more like dark grey. On the inside the teapot is made of ceramics and on the outside is a layer of cast-iron finish.

DIY: Easy cream colored crocheted blanket to make

Last week I finished another plaid, this time a cream colored crocheted blanket. I’m very happy with the result and it fits on a lot of places in my house. Maybe you also want to make a blanket like this yourself, it’s not difficult to make at all.

Howaboutfrankie: Beautiful Handmade cushion covers

DIY: Making a dog cushion yourself (Ikeahack #1)

I never found a good Dog cushion that fitted well in our interior and when I found one, it was extremely expensive. And also hard to wash. But I never had the idea to make one myself. Until the day our cat Geisha started to pee on the cushions of our dog Bruno. It drove me nuts. I couldn’t clean the older cushions completely, because on the inside it had a cushion with styrofoam balls. You can’t put those cushions in the washing machine. So our dog was smelling like cat pee all the time, Yikes kit was so awful. Finally we decided to throw away the cushions and to give him an old cushion from a garden chair. But for a big labrador retreiver like our Bruno that was an awful little cushion. So then I got the idea to make one on my own. It turned out to be very easy and I already made three for him, one for in the kitchen, one in the study room and one for the Living. Do you want to make such a cushion yourself, read further.

Knitting a nice warm plaid (#DIY)

I’m always working on thousands of projects at the same time and when something is (almost) finished, I already have ten other things in my head that seems to be nice to make or do. Do you also have that? Really nice to have all the ideas, but it’s also good to finish things. So busy to make some order in this chaos at home;-). It only didn’t hold me back to start this little project, a nice warm plaid to knit.
I had this idea for a while to make a nice warm plaid with a cable and preferable one that’s  made with thick yarn, so minimal thickness 8 of the needles. And the wool must be a little bit mixed with beige and cream colored. And I din’t want to spend a lot of money on it.  Yarn is very expensive these days and for a plaid of 130 x 180 cm I expected that I needed around 1700 – 2000 grams of Yarn.

DIY: Coasters made of iron beads

In our garden we have a very nice garden seat with a teak table. The table is untreated. Very happy with the furniture, only the table looks so shitty sometimes because of the circles made by wet glasses. So I have been looking for nice coasters everywhere, but haven’t found them yet.
But in the summer, we’re using the table all the time, so desperately needed a temporarily solution this summer. That’s why I came on the idea of making coasters of iron beads.
It’s a very nice DIY project and while making the coasters I got one idea after another.
In the mean time I found out that coasters of iron beads are not a total solution. Because of the small holes in the beads, fluids can still go through. But it makes it a little bit better and for hot mugs it works good.
Beside that they look really great on my garden table;-)

Alternative Christmas tree on canvas with real christmas decorations

Alternative Christmas tree on canvas DIY on Goodlives.nl

A few years ago I made an alternative Christmas tree on a wooden plank, with a lot of small Christmas balls and mini Christmas ornaments. I fastened it on the wooden plank with little hooks. I liked it a lot, so decided I wanted to make a bigger one too. Only the bigger one that I had in mind, must be around 200 x 120 cm and that’s really heavy if you want to make it with wood. After Christmas I have to store it until next year and I didn’t like the idea of carrying such a heavy thing to the attic. So I let the idea go for a while. And suddenly this year I had an idea, after a failing attempt of assembling a canvas for a painting idea.

DIY: Alternative Christmas wreath

Every year I try to make a new DIY for Christmas (see here for an overview of my Christmas DIY projects)
Last year I made this alternative Christmas wreath to hang on a door. Unfortunately I didn’t make pictures during the DIY, but I can tell you what I did to make the wreath.
