Koko’s Beach on Jan Thiel baai, Curacao

On Jan Thiel beach, Curacao you can find this idyllic part of the beach near Koko’s beach. I think it’s new or recently renovated by Chogogo resort, which is close to this part of the beach. It looks great and is very quiet, and nothing better if you’re on a tropical island than to have a great topical beach on the other side of the street.

Improvement of de DIY Teepee, so the fabric won’t go down

!Waiting for translation!

Last year I wrote a blogpost about how to make your own teepee. My son Lars is really happy with his teepee, only we got really crazy that the Fabric from the top came down all the time. If I moved the teepee a little bit, then it all came down. I really want to do something about it and now I found the solution. Until now I didn’t had the time to write it down, but now I have vacation, so here it comes.

Overview of my DIY Christmas projects

The last couple of years I wrote a few blogs about the DIY Christmas projects that I made for Christmas. I thought it would be nice to give you an overview about the posts, so you can easily find them back on the Blog.

DIY mini Christmas crib

After working very hard on my Master Thesis the last couple of weeks, it’s finally finished. At least for me. It’s now at my Thesis supervisor, who promises me a lot, but is not doing what he promises. It’s the first time he is reading something from my Thesis. I asked him several times to read parts. But he didn’t do that. And now the time is there, that I am probably too late to sent my Thesis to Nyenrode, because the deadline is very close.
I’m frustrated about it, because I can’t do anything about it.
Right now I need a little distraction, so I searched for a little Christmas DIY project. And it became a mini Christmas crib. I was looking for one for a while, but most of the time I found them too colorful, or too expensive.
So last week I saw a nice one on Instagram. I searched for a shop, but it was sold out everywhere.
After some more searching I found the wooden dolls, so plans for a DIY are ready. Are you in?

Crocheting a flag with a heart in it for the World record

I wrote it before in my earlier Blogpost, that I have joined the attempt the worldrecord for the Guinness book of records, to crochet the longest Flag Line of “Het Nijehuis”. In that post I put some information about this attempt and also some examples of nice flags to crochet (including the links where to find the the patterns or descriptions). It’s quite an addiction to crochet all those flags, I’m working on it almost every day. I get more and more Ideas, and searching all over the internet to find new patterns;-). It’s not only fun, I’m also learning a lot of new things about crocheting. On the facebookpage Hakenvoorwereldrecord (Sorry it’s a dutch page), I saw these super nice flags from Mary Timmer – de Croon with a heart in the middle of it. There was no pattern, so I tried to make one on my own. I search on the internet for examples of hearts and started trying. I finally succeeded with a good flag, so now I wrote the pattern down for you, so you can all start crocheting this great flag. Read further for the pattern

Crocheting Flags for charity (cancer project), are you in?

Waiting for translation

DIY: Pillow for in the Teepee

Waiting for translation!!

It’s more than half a year ago since I wrote a blog. Time flies, I was so busy with all kind of things and all the time I had some half finished posts for the Blog waiting for me. Like the Teepee pillow for with the teepee that I made last year in october. Next to my two Blogs I also have a job as Business controller for three days in a week and also a webshop for hobbymaterials and beads. Last year I started to move some products from the old wbeshop tot the new site Cottonandcandles (edit: it’s now Okariconcepts). With the old site I had to do all the programming myself and I also didn’t liked the name anymore. That’s why I decided to go for the new site, which gives me much more opportunities, and no more programming myself. But in the end it turned out to be much more work than I thought it would be to move all the 2500 products to the new site. So for the last 4 months I was working on the site. It’s still not finished yet, but it starts to look like something. Next to the beads, I’m also selling yarn to knit or crochet, other hobbymaterials and Sewing stuff. If you want to, you can see it for yourself here You can change the language into English on top of the site, left

Cocktail Friday: A Rum Cola

While I was moving all the Blogs from Photosforfoodies to Cakes and Pumps I noticed that I never wrote a Blog about Rum Cola. And this happens to be the most made cocktail in Suriname, which is the country where my hubby Martin is born and where we have spent almost 6 vacations already. So the choice was made quickly , the first Cocktail Friday Blog for Cakes and Pumps is about Rum Cola, or better a Borgoe Cola, with Surinamese rum.

BBQ: Pork Tenderloin skewers

Summer always brings nice barbeques, together with the three of us or with friends and family.
For a bbq I always make skewers. This can be with chicken, shrimps, beef or with pork tenderloin. Every time we try new things, like these pork tenderloin skewers.

Cocktail Friday: a Fresco 43

On Wednesday and Friday I always have my days off, and of course in the weekends, because our company is closed then. I always use my free days to do some refurbishing in the house, working on some creative ideas that I have or shopping the stuff that I need for all those ideas;-). These last two days were shopping days. I try to change some things in our living room and decided that it can use some mustard yellow. Soon I will write some blogs on Goodlives.nl about what I bought and what I made in this color. But to stay in that yellow color, I wanted to make a Cocktail for this Cocktail Friday with Licor 43, the Fresco 43.
