DIY: Making a dog cushion yourself (Ikeahack #1)

Bruno with his new dog cushion (DIY) IG - on Goodlives.nl

I never found a good Dog cushion that fitted well in our interior and when I found one, it was extremely expensive. And also hard to wash. But I never had the idea to make one myself. Until the day our cat Geisha started to pee on the cushions of our dog Bruno. It drove me nuts. I couldn’t clean the older cushions completely, because on the inside it had a cushion with styrofoam balls. You can’t put those cushions in the washing machine. So our dog was smelling like cat pee all the time, Yikes kit was so awful. Finally we decided to throw away the cushions and to give him an old cushion from a garden chair. But for a big labrador retreiver like our Bruno that was an awful little cushion. So then I got the idea to make one on my own. It turned out to be very easy and I already made three for him, one for in the kitchen, one in the study room and one for the Living. Do you want to make such a cushion yourself, read further.  Continue reading “DIY: Making a dog cushion yourself (Ikeahack #1)”

DIY: Coasters made of iron beads

Coasters all made of hama ironing beads

In our garden we have a very nice garden seat with a teak table. The table is untreated. Very happy with the furniture, only the table looks so shitty sometimes because of the circles made by wet glasses. So I have been looking for nice coasters everywhere, but haven’t found them yet.
But in the summer, we’re using the table all the time, so desperately needed a temporarily solution this summer. That’s why I came on the idea of making coasters of iron beads.
It’s a very nice DIY project and while making the coasters I got one idea after another.
In the mean time I found out that coasters of iron beads are not a total solution. Because of the small holes in the beads, fluids can still go through. But it makes it a little bit better and for hot mugs it works good.
Beside that they look really great on my garden table;-)

Black and white play rug from H&M

Black and White toys from H&M,

For a few weeks now I’m looking for nice decoraties for the new room of my little boy. We are redecorating his room and I already ordered some furniture for his room.
I try to give his room a little bit of an industrial view, while watching out for not making it a teenage room, since he’s only 2,5 years old.
One of the things that I found is the super nice play rug of H&M. Luckily not with a lot of colors, but nice in black and white. And with a road on it, which is always a good thing, because he’s totally nuts about cars.
As soon as I saw the rug on someones Instagram picture I checked the site of H&M, but the rug was sold out. More than a week I checked the site for a couple of times a day. One time I found the rug, but in seconds it was sold out again. In the mean time I found a mug, a plate, a little schoolboard in Truck form and a dish, all in line of the traffic serie. All these products were also sold out a lot, but by checking the site a lot, I could collect it all. Except for the nice rug.

First Blogpost on goodlives.nl

Part of our living room with fireplace and light colored accessories

So nice of you to read my first blogpost on Goodlives. I doubted some time if I wanted to start this Blog, since I also write Blogs for Cakes and Pumps, my lifestyleblog. Two Blogs is a little bit busy, but I like to Blog. Only I think that on my other Blogs there is not so much room for Interior design, renovating and home accessories. Not on my foodblog, since this is about food and also not on my lifestyleblog, because I don’t want that one to turn into an interior Blog. But I felt that it is time to finish the house and to style it with nice decorations. And I have a lot of ideas that I like to with you and hopefully I will feel a little more pressure to finish the unfinished things in the house:-). So finally I decided to start this Blog.
